Following studies at Film Academy Budapest (1992-1996) and several short films Katalin Gödrös shoots her first feature film MUTANTS, based on her own script and produced by ZDF – Das kliene Ferensehspiel. The film premieres 2002 at 52nd International Berlin Film Festival.
SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE, her second feature based on her own script premieres 2010 at the International Competition of Locarno Filmfestival prior to its theatrical release in Switzerland and Germany.
From 2009 until 2013 Katalin Gödrös acts as artistric head of CINEMA TOTAL at Collegium Hungaricum Berlin, a platform for east-european films during Berlinale. Under her leadership the „International Romani Film Commission” is founded in 2012.
Since 2010 she teaches on a regular basis at DFFB, Deutschen Film- und Fernseh Akademie Berlin, ZHDK and was a mentor at the Script Workshop Zürich/München. In 2021 she was appointed professor for directing by Ifs Köln.
Between 2004 and 2018 Katalin Gödrös directed several TV shows and prime-time series for Swiss broadcaster SRF.
In 2024 her feature film „SONGS WITHIN“, a co-production of Turnus Film GmbH, Schweiz and Amour fou, Luxemburg was released in Switzerland and played successfully in theaters.
IN ABSENTIA, Katalin Gödrös’ latest film project, produced by Hugo Film Features and supported by Binger Film Lab, Amsterdam, Swiss Societe des Auteurs, EQUINOX and Zurich Film Foundation is currently being financed.
The adaptation of Ulrike Edschmids novel DAS VERSCHWINDEN DES PHILIP S. is supported by BKM and also in the financing phase.
