1971 born in Vienna, Austria

started shooting on a Super 8 camera at the age of 10, several short films during highschool

from 1990 until 1998 camera assistant and still photographer in Austria and Germany
from 1998 until 2000 Cinematogrphy studies at AFI, Los Angeles

since 2001 director of photography on several US feature films, in particular all of Andrew Bujalski’s films (such as “Beeswax”, “Results” and “Support the Girls”), as well as international documentaries and tv series.

Matthias Grunsky lives in Munich, Germany and works in Europe and the USA

The co-production by NGF – Nikolaus Geyrhalter Film and if… Productions was directed by Johannes Schmid, DoP Matthias Grunsky was in charge of its cinematography.
